What We Do

The Society covers all types of still photographic image making: digital imaging and film-based photography, prints and transparencies in colour or monochrome, and audio visual sequences.

The Society's activities include:

Digital Photography and Digital Imaging

The Society's Digital Imaging Group explores ways of making, and improving, images using computer techniques.
The members of the Digital Imaging group range from those who are completely new to digital imaging to those who have many years experience.

The content of the meetings is diverse and varied: some are tutorials, while others are discussion sessions covering software, computer hardware, film and flatbed scanners, digital cameras, inket printing papers, creative ideas, and problem solving.

The Digital Imaging Group's meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month throughout the year at a variety of locations, depending on the subjects that will be covered in that evening's meeting.

The fee for the Digital Group meetings (which are open to non-members) is £2 per session.

If you are a non-member and would like to attend the Digital Imaging Group's meetings, please contact the Society Secretary by phone or email for directions.

Annual Exhibition

Staged as part of the Wycombe Arts Festival, the Annual Exhibition is usually located in the Guild Hall at the head of Wycombe High Street, and allows the Society to showcase the work of its members to the general public, and for the individual authors to show the variety and quality of their images to a wider audience.

Competitions

The Society has internal Print and Slide leagues, with the Print and Slide evenings being friendly affairs which are judged at two levels, Novice/Intermediate and Advanced. Commentary from the judges contains constructive advice not only for the competitor but also for all club members.

You will find that the members are willing to help with problems, readily offering advice and sharing their experiences.

The Society is a member of the Federation of North West London Photographic Societies, and is active within the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs (CACC).

Through the CACC, we are affiliated to the The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB), and we were chosen as one of two clubs to represent the CACC at the PAGB's 2006 Inter-Federation Print and Slide Championship at Connah's Quay.

Membership

The membership fee is £28 a year, and the membership year runs from October to September of the following year. This fee is reduced for those joining partway through a membership year.
Visitors are welcome to attend a number of the Society's meetings without any commitment, although a donation toward the cost of the evening would be very welcome.

There is a small fee for the Digital imaging Group meetings, which is payable per session.
